One night early in August I just needed to get out of Harlem and love New York again, so spur of the moment we decided to meet Klane in Central Park after work. Normally we wouldn’t do this because it messes with the kids usual routine (dinner, bath, bed) but it was so nice to break the routine and enjoy some time together in the park to remember why I like living in New York. It was a really nice evening. This spot by Turtle Pond is enclosed so we could let the kids wander around on the grass without them getting far or leaving our sight. It was so relaxing!
Later that week I went back in the afternoon to try to recreate this beautiful evening but that spot was crowded so we hung out nearby. Not as magical without Klane there but still a nice way to spend an afternoon.
We discovered Tots playground, designed for toddlers, and I went there a lot this month.
On a Saturday we took the kids to the Museum of Natural History and split up to follow them around. Every once in a while we would bump into each other and switch kids. Haha. Family togetherness.
Did a lot of pool days on the back patio when packing up and getting on the train sounded too hard.
Another museum day, this time we met Alexa there and she took these cute pics! The kids love running free, and also love looking at the animals. I just wish I could take them there by myself, but one of them would get lost for sure, so we don’t go as often as I’d like since we don’t always have an extra adult to go with.
Alexa took these of Ben at the end of our visit while I ran back through the whole museum looking for his shoe he kicked off somewhere. Miraculously it was at Lost and Found.
We have the couch cushions on the windowsill to prevent climbing on the windowsill.
Daddy in the bishopric means Sundays have been a little hectic around here and we don’t get to see as much of each other as we’d like. Here we are in the church library where I was making copies of the programs before church and dad popped in to say hello.
Another thing we like to do when loading up the stroller and going out is too much of an undertaking, is go up to the rooftop to run around a bit. The kids like running in the hallway, into the elevator, and spotting planes on the roof. And climbing onto this chair up there. Always climbing.
I got a chance to go to the temple one day while Klane watched the kids, which was wonderful. We should have realized this trading off thing was a possibility a long time ago.
Another day at Tots Playground.
Spent a lot of time in August looking for the perfect Matron of Honor dress for Alexa’s upcoming wedding!
There was a Kids Day at BBDO so I brought the kids in to the office.
A favorite inside game: running into the pillow pile!
One day we took an epic walk up to the Little Red Lighthouse (it’s about 3.5 miles from our house) with some friends. There’s an awesome playground called Nature Discovery Playground up there too. We had such a fun day!
Mom left the wipes container open.
Another patio pool day, this time with dad.
We went to Wild West playground on 93rd street in Central Park. The water wasn’t on but we had fun!
For redemption we went to River Run playground on 79th in Riverside Park and it was AWESOME! The kids loved it. It reminded me of my childhood.
I took the kids to the Central Park Zoo by myself one ambitious morning. Pretty proud of myself for this one. :)
He totally posed in there all by himself without me asking. So funny.
