A few weeks after the kids birthday, we had a little party with friends to celebrate them turning one. I loved celebrating as a family on their actual day, but I wanted to share with friends, and also I wouldn’t mind getting some photos of the kids smashing cakes in natural lighting. :)
We had the party on our roof deck and it was such a nice time. I feel really grateful for the good friends we have and that Ben and Nora are surrounded by so much love from friends! We had snacks and cake and ice cream and chatted away in the sunshine, then watched the kids dig into their cakes. They were a little more hesitant with these ones than the original smash cakes we did on their actual birthday, but it was still fun. As always, Alexa saved the day taking pictures for me since I was distracted playing hostess and forgot to take any with our camera.
I originally planned to have a picnic party in the park under the pink cherry blossom trees. The week leading up to the party, the weather was warm and perfect and the blossoms were at their peak. And then the night before the party, it rained!! I’d really been looking forward to the blossoms as our party backdrop, but it turned out to be really nice having it on the (dry) roof deck instead, and the setup and cleanup was so much easier since we were right here in our building. Overall it was a great celebration!
