Howwwwww on earth are my babies half a year old right now? It is blowing my mind. I can’t believe it! The last six months flew by. I can’t believe it’s General Conference again this weekend. Last General Conference we watched with mom and dad and five-day-old babies. The first six months just fly because the babies are growing and changing so fast and as a parent you are just trying to keep up. And the first three months especially are this blur of day-to-day feeding/sleeping/not sleeping and it all just blends together. Overall it has been AMAZING and I have loved being their mom so, so much. I wish it wasn’t going by so fast, but at the same time I don’t have any regrets thus far (I have taken eight million pictures and videos and savored every moment), plus they just keep getting more and more fun and there is so much to look forward to, I can only be excited about them getting older.
Ben and Nora are so much fun right now. Ben is sitting up mostly unassisted and rolling over a lot, mostly just one direction (to his right). Nora is content to lay on her back and seems pretty uninterested in rolling or sitting. She’s pretty chill. Ben LOVES the jumper and as soon as you put him in it he’s bouncing like crazy and smiling and so excited. Nora hasn’t really gotten into jumping, she just likes sitting in it. Haha. Both of them love the swings. They made the transition to three naps really easily once I decided to do it. I am loving their schedule right now. They get 11.5-12 hours of night sleep and take three naps (two long, one short) with two hour wake times between naps. We just transitioned down to four feeds a day, which has been really nice too. And this week we are introducing solid foods! Really excited about that (although I have heard it will make their diapers less pleasant, unfortunately). They are just the sweetest kids and I am pretty obsessed with them. I love seeing their personalities emerge. We are finding out where they are ticklish and what makes them laugh. I love their little facial expressions. I love seeing how different they are. Ben is our cuddly little bear and Nora is our dainty little princess. Nora is so happy and has the sweetest temperament and smile. Ben is also a happy kid and is so tender and sensitive. Ben loves his little teddy bear, when we put him down for sleep he hugs the bear to his face and that’s how he settles down. And usually when they wake up I find that he has also collected Nora’s bear and he has both of them on his side of the crib. So funny. Ben sucks his thumb on his left hand and Nora sucks her ring and middle finger on her left hand. She isn’t that interested in pacifiers the last week or so, she just loves her fingers. Ben still likes the pacifier though. They both settle down when we read them Goodnight Moon before bed. Other favorite bedtime stories are Where the Wild Things Are, In a Blue Room (my favorite!) and Mr. Tiger Goes Wild. Nora’s hair seems to be getting a little longer on top, which makes me excited for it to grow! Ben still drools a lot but has stopped spitting up as much lately. Nora is ticklish on her sides just like her dad. Ben is still ticklish on his neck. Nora’s eyes are this fantastic grayish color. Ben’s seem to be a hazel brown, but both of them still have a ring of that dark blue newborn color around the outside. Ben is still way chubbier than Nora, and we find his chub and her slenderness both so adorable.
Meeting dad at the park after work for some swingset action…
It’s finally cool enough for them to wear these matching outfits from one of my baby showers!
Benny has a secret. He pooped on his outfit so he wouldn’t have to match sister anymore.
you win this round, ben.
he actually loves the swing, he was just holding back his excitement
blurry yet adorable. keeper!
