Time off
by angie.
My office was closed for construction this week, which meant that I got the whole week off work. It was fantastic. And now I want to quit my job and stay home all the time. (Since I enjoy having money, I guess I will keep working.)
I had so much time to do all the things I always want to do but never have time to do. I went to the temple every day and finally started making a dent in the family names I’ve been “working on” (a.k.a. “procrastinating”) for the last three years. It was so great to spend so much time there and to have time to ponder and study. I gained a lot more insight into the symbolism of the temple than I have before. It was just really, really great. I need to make time to go more often.
I also had time to deep clean my apartment, which was so much less daunting a task when spread throughout the week. I’ve had really great workouts every day, the kind I always wish I did but never do because I don’t want to get up at 5:15 am to do them. I made new recipes and cooked dinner every night. I finally got around to sorting through and backing up the 11,000 unarchived photos on my computer (I know. I know). I went shopping one day in SoHo and got some board shorts for our trip to Lake Powell.
I’m reading. I’m taking naps. I’ve talked to my mom on the phone. I’ve just really, really enjoyed making my own schedule and doing whatever I want every day. And now I’m really, really looking forward to having a baby and staying home someday. I know I won’t have all the time in the world to do whatever I want after I have children, but I just really like the idea of not being stuck in an office for 10 hours every day. That is a lot of time. I would rather be doing sooooo many other things with that time.
Sigh…….. Someday. Someday.
Klane has been busy shooting a commercial this week. They’re filming in New Jersey, so he didn’t have to travel for it, but he’s been leaving super early and getting home close to midnight. It’s good though, even though he’s exhausted he’s excited to have his work being produced for TV! This is his second commercial he’s done, so it’s pretty cool!
Here’s to a weekend that lasts forever. I never want to go back to work!

You’re one of the only people I know who is actually productive on their days off from work! Seriously, you are a wonder woman!
It sounds like after one week, you were able to get your life 100% organized. You are such a self-driven person, Ang! I wish we still lived close, so some of that time could have been with the two of us hanging out.
One of my big “concerns” for this new place we’re in is finding a couple or two to watch the BYU football games with!! I was already scouting people out on Sunday at church. But, alas, I think you and Klane are irreplaceable!
I’m so impressed with all you accomplished! Going to the temple daily surely did give you the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of those blessings. What a great week!
Hooray for days off! Truthfully, most days for me as a stay-at-home mom are much more exhausting than my old 9+ hour work days (and I seem to get less “extra things” accomplished than I did then) — but they are also infinitely more fun! So yes, I’m sure that will be a welcome change when the time comes :) And in the meantime, hooray for Lake Powell trips! Who could focus on work with one of those on the horizon, anyway?
I love that you got to go to the temple every day. That is so great!!! I love time at the temple and wish we could attend more often, Loved the picture of the temple…I am so proud of you Angie… you have always had your priorities in proper order. Three cheeres for you for cooking every day when you knew your sweet husband would be coming home super late. you are truly an Angel…
My how we love you and miss you. We wil be so happy when you can move back to Utah. Stay well and happy and remember how very much you are loved…..
Loved our chats and we can keep doing that on the lunch hour! You really did fill your week with so many wonderful things and I agree with Joanna, you are so productive with your free time! You will continue to be that way and you will love being a stay at home mom! It is truly the greatest and full of its own adventure! You are amazing and have been such a great employee and help to Klane out there in your NYC life! Enjoy it and keep on doing all you do!
Every night before I go to bed I tell myself I’m going to quit my job. Then I go to work and remember how great my co-workers are, how nice the dentists are and how most of my patients are a fun to talk to. You are awesome to utilize your time so effectively! It’s a daily thing for me to not want to go to work but then realize I enjoy the money and that work keeps me from sitting on my bum all day.
So very impressed with your “time-off” productivity. You will make an incredible mother!
