Swartswood Lake

Saturday we took a last-minute day trip to Swartswood Lake in New Jersey with friends. We picnicked, played wiffle ball, had swimming contests and canoe races, played catch in the sand and relaxed the afternoon away. I am so, so glad we went.
I had no idea how beautiful New Jersey was, or what beautiful quaint little towns we’d drive through on the way out. It really was lovely. We stopped at a roadside barbecue place on the way home (which was delicious), and the owner was so nice and came out to chat with us for a bit while we ate. When we left, he said,
“As we say in New Jersey… Yall come back now, y’hear?”
If I have any say in the matter, we definitely will!
I took almost no pictures. Seriously, this is it. We went with four other couples and three babies and I only got two pictures with people in them. That’s how you know I was enjoying the day too much to document. :)
You’re making me homesick, Angie! Your pictures of New York have always had this effect on me, and now New Jersey, too?! I’m so glad to hear that you loved New Jersey. Yes, I would agree that few pictures is generally a sure sign that you were having too much fun! If you’re seriously interested in going back to New Jersey, might I recommend the South Mountain Reservation? I don’t think that you can camp there, but it’s great for hiking. It’s gorgeous and I think that you would love it!

So glad you had such a fabulous weekend and got out in the “country” to have some adventure. It looks absolutely divine and I think you should “come back there, y’all”! Sounds like Morgons recommendation would be perfect!

I am watching Shark Week right this very moment as I read your blog post here. New Jersey really is so beautiful! I love it there and am so glad you got to see the pretty side of it :) One of these Saturdays, you should head down to an Amish market. Best ice cream of your life!
