Life lately

by angie.

I’m still grabbing the occasional free cupcake on my way home. I just can’t seem to help myself.

Klane decided he “needed” this Afghan shemagh scarf… he showed me pictures of it online and tried to tell me about the many uses of a shemagh… camping, skiing, keeping warm in the winter, going to battle in Iraq… something along those lines. The next thing I know he sends me a picture of himself in his cube at work, wearing the thing. That boy. He cracks me up.

He also wrote me a little message with his spaghettios the other day. Cute. Yes, I allow my husband to eat spaghettios on occasion. I know, I deserve the wife of the year award for providing such nutritious meals. Sometimes I just don’t feel like making lunch and he’s left to fend for himself. But he still loves me. Or so the spaghettios say.

I took a couple pictures at work for the Instagram “photo a day” challenge. It made me realize that I never blog about work. That’s because work is kind of boring… but I ought to record a little update. I have kind of a lot of responsibility lately at work because I do the inventory and ordering of most of our orthodontic and oral hygiene supplies, plus I submit a lot of the Invisalign cases online, plus I was the trainer for everyone on the new digital impression scanner. There’s always something to do, but I like being busy. It makes the days go by fast. I’m also slowly trying to introduce some of the “Dr. Graf” philosophies of customer service and teamwork that I learned from my dad’s wonderful practice. So, work is good. Not a bad place to be four days a week.

I read somewhere that the chocolate chip cookies at City Bakery were better than Levain, and this is the kind of news that must be verified. So after work Wednesday I dragged friend Joanna down to Chelsea to try it out along with some white chocolate hot chocolate. The result? The cocoa was good, but the cookie was just all right. It doesn’t even come close to Levain, which still holds the title for Best Cookies in New York City and Possibly the Entire Known Universe. Sorry, CB. Your hot cocoa still wins, though.

Lately I’ve been trying to feed us more vegetables and whole grains (inspiration found on this blog – read it, it’s great!), so I’ve been doing a lot of shopping at Whole Foods and Fairway Market on my way home from work. It’s perfect, I can grab my groceries and hop on the train to get home. Finally I’ve found a grocery shopping solution for where we live now. It’s great.

I spent most of my Saturday making “Choose the Right” shields in a dozen different languages for my Primary lesson today. It was fun and I watched Downton Abbey while I cut and taped my creations together. This is the kind of Sharing Time lesson that you hang onto and always have on hand for later. It went over really well.

By the way, you still have 8 more days to watch Season 2 of Downton Abbey online, and I would highly recommend checking it out. I am on the last episode and it’s soooo good!! Go watch it!!

Oh, and my hubby is really really cute. I had to snap a picture of him on the way home from church because cuteness like this must be captured and remembered forever. :)

Awww I love this!! All of it. Your photos, your updates, your humor. You’re great and I miss you.

Also, can I just say that I am happy to hear that Levain still wins? It was going to crush me a little to have to redefine my favorite cookie experience in the whole world.

I have loved Downton Abbey and I can’t wait for the next season. Also, your bridal shower quiz for Andrea was really cute; it was fun getting to know more about Justin. We all missed you!

Hi Angie! It looks like you’ve been having lots of fun in your adventure in NY. I have a random question. We may be moving out to Connecticut for school. I know when you first moved out to NY you had talked to people who lived out there already about moving and things. I’m wondering how you knew who to call and things. I know that’s a little confusing, but I hope you know what I’m saying. Let me know if you get a minute…please! Thanks!

Downton Abbey…the best thing since who knows. Such a great show!! Anyway, ah Angie, you’re so great!! I hope you know that and never forget it. I gotta admit that being at the tail end of winter I get a little bluesy…ish:) But just know that your blog is a joy for me to read and you are a joy for me! Love you!

You are the best!! You should be a professional photographer, bridal game maker, sharing time presenter, wife and homemaker, cooker of healthy stuff, ortho worker, and many many more! Wow! I just love you and I am a fan.

  7. A few things.
    1. Your husband is so handsome. Like, SO handsome. Is it weird that he in some ways reminds me of Steve? Am I creeping you out now? Sorry. I’ll stop.
    2. I have never had those chocolate chip cookies from Levain Bakery, but it sounds pretty darn good right about now. (time to make dinner).
    3. We love that Word of Wisdom Living blog. It’s so great. Makes me realize how much awful stuff I still eat… but it’s all about baby steps, right?
    4. I am totally sucked into Downton Abbey. I just finished season 1. Steve fell asleep while I was watching a few times, so he is out. Gotta keep those eyes open if you want to keep up with me! ;)

That cupcake looks amazing right now! I think if there was a possibility for free cupcakes in Ephraim, I’d plot my route to classes around it. :) (Sugar is good for your brain… right? Shouldn’t it be?) Also, I thought about what you wrote about work, and that’s kind of really awesome! You’re bringing a lot of really great values (work related, and non work related) to the office! :) Thanks for always being such a great example! I’m excited to see you for Just and Andrea’s wedding!
